Early Life of King Henry VIII
King Henry VIII was born on June 28, 1491. Henry was born into a Catholic family. On April 21, 1509 Henry VIII became king of England. His brother Arthur was meant to be king but he passed away; Henry was only 15 at the time. Among his six siblings, only three of them had survived. When Henry became king he married Catherine Aragon. Due to his lack of interest in Catherine, King Henry VIII wished to divorce her and marry another. The Catholic Church would not allow him to do so. Angry with the Catholics, Henry struck back with the reformation of the Protestant Church.
